Christmas 1858 at Aston Hall – 3rd - 12th December
Every two years there is a very special event called 'Aston Hall by Candlelight'. This beautiful Jacobean mansion is illuminated with thousands of candles and filled with characters from its colourful history.
This year we shall be recreating the visit of Queen Victoria to Aston Hall in 1858.

Christ-tide 1599 at Blakesley Hall – 19th December
We shall be celebrating Christ-tide 1599 at Blakesley Hall, Birmingham
on Sunday December 19th, 12 – 4pm.
We shall be taking this marvelous and historical house back in time over four hunderd years to show what Christmas was like for a prosperous gentleman and his household. Our cook, ably assisted by her kitchen maids, will be preparing a feast of fine festive foods including real minced pie and roasted meats. The servants will be decorating and preparing the house whilst the master, Mr Smalbroke, writes his letters.
Once the house has been decorated and the feast prepared, the household shall sit down together for dinner. Whilst the dinner is served and eaten, Mr Smalbroke will enlighten the audience as to the nature and origins of Christ-tide food and customs.
If you would like to join with us in celebrating Christ-tide 1599, please contact us to find out more information on how you can enjoy taking part.
