Defending the Wye - April 17th, 10am - 4pm
2011 is the 40th anniversary year of the Valley of the Wye Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. As part of this year of celebration, the AONB has put on historical events at locations along the Wye, looking at different episodes in the turbulent history of the valley.
On Sunday April 17th, we shall be at the Old Station, Tintern. Our event will show how munitions were produced and used during the English Civil War. The Valley of the Wye was a hive of industrial activity with iron and brass being produced and exported.
This family event will feature artisans producing munitions and soldiers putting them to terrible use. It is FREE to all visitors. If you would prefer to take part, rather than watch, do get in contact so that we can include you in our activities.
